Evergreen Family Medicine fails to follow lab recommendations; just looks for excuses to fire...
Amanda Rose, PA, at Centennial Medical Group East (also known as Evergreen Family Medicine) recently drug tested a patient at their office with the standard point-of-care cup. The cup showed methamphetamine, so Ms. Rose did what the standard lab recommendations say to do: she sent it out for confirmation BEFORE making any clinical decisions with regards to the patient’s medications. The lab confirmation showed NO methamphetamine, so therefore the patient passed their drug test. One month later Ms. Rose gave the same patient another drug test. One month later, it was likely from the same lot of drug testing cups that were used the month earlier, but no one will ever know because that clinic fails to document the name of the drug cup, the lot number, and the expiration date, so for all anyone knows they may use expired cups! Guess what? The drug cup test showed the EXACT same results; methamphetamine and the other prescribed medications as expected. But instead of doing the lab confirmation again, Amanda Rose refused. So despite the same results with the same cups, and a proven lab confirmation, Amanda Rose refused to do what is recommended by multiple labs, testing agencies, and pain societies. All because she really doesn’t want to treat chronic pain patients. She was just looking for a way to dismiss this patient and she found it by using a drug cup test result IMPROPERLY. Way to go! That’s the type of quality care you get at that clinic. They fire you for marijuana use, even when they’ve known about it for years, because now it just doesn’t fit with their ideals.
