Roseburg VA refuses to release patient records
The Roseburg VA medical records office has a long history of delaying or ignoring release of information requests. They do this to make it harder for outside providers to provide care to their veteran patients. They want them to stay in "their" system and not go to anyone else.
Recently got a fax regarding one patient that they claimed was not a VA patient. When confronted with the true facts, then they changed their tune to one of the patient not being one of their Roseburg patients and advised us to get the records from the Portland VA.
All VA's are supposed to be linked and therefore patient records are supposed to be available to ALL VA facilities when needed. Despite the fact that the VA system has spent millions upon millions of taxpayer dollars every few years to update their computerized electronic medical record system, they seem to be unable to accomplish this basic activity. Or is it just laziness on the part of their employees?
